My name is Steve Moors. I’m a British/American artist based in New York. Over the years I’ve been involved in the arts in a multitude of disciplines as I pursued my self motivated artistic needs. I’ve been showcased and interviewed in several magazines, and exhibited in the U.S.A, Israel, and the United Kingdom, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. However, over the last year, I’ve focused exclusively full-time on my own art. I’m excited, and surprised, by the work.
I use a pencil, a digital pencil, but a simple pencil nontheless. I use time, and patience, with many, many hours of rendering. I use my mind. Bringing the same sensibility and discipline from when I had my brick and mortar studios, as this quality resides in my head, not in my location. The motivation for my work is essentially driven by my fascination with the mostly hidden incongruities and conflicting self-deceptions created by the struggle between our primal and present modern selves. For what I can offer, my work is an attempt to present these phenomena in a visual language that is focused enough to expose the issue at hand, yet broad enough to not be colloquially or culturally exclusive, and so reveal and bring an awareness to these pitfalls with this ongoing series of contemporary visual sutras. They are an offering of a mindful observation to calmly ponder, from me, the artist Steve Moors, for the thoughtful consideration and positive encouragement of the people. That’s you.
